From Sunday 26th to Friday 28th June a diverse group of researchers from the Mobile DNA community met at Rancho Mirage, Southern California, to celebrate and discuss 25 years of research in the field. Our lab was invited to contribute to the Population Genomics session organized by Stephane Boissinot (NYUAD) and co-sponsored by the SMBE. Besides the talks, the organizers scheduled two “Career development sessions”, one aimed at graduate students and another at postdocs, and a “Meets the experts” session. And… the meeting dinner was followed by a DJ session! Altogether a great meeting with plenty of opportunities to learn not only about the latest discoveries in the field but also from the career experiences of an incredible group of scientists.
