Irene González

July 2021-December 2021
(March 2020-June 2020 Undergraduate honors student, July 2021-December 2021 lab technician)
I studied Biotechnology at IQS School of Engineering (Ramón Llull University; Barcelona) and I have recently finished the MSc in Pharmaceutical and Biotechnological Industry from the Pompeu Fabra University. At present, I have the opportunity of joining González Lab as research staff and collaborate on the study of the role of Transposable Elements (TE) in the environmental adaptation of Drosophila melanogaster through the creation of CRISPR mutants to analyze their functional effect, particularly in response to the oxidative stress.

March 2020-June 2020

I am an undergraduate student of Biotechnology at IQS School of Engineering (URL), an institution that has allowed me to develop my skills and interest in research. During the last summer, I had the opportunity to take an internship in the ruminant department of IRTA Torre Marimón, working on the production of recombinant proteins and now I am joining González Lab to develop my final career project based on the study of the role of transposable elements (TE) in the adaptation of Drosophila melanogaster from the application of CRISPR / Cas9 technology to functionally validate the identified mutations.
