The original distribution of dry tropical forest in Mesoamerica was supposed to cover a more or less continuous stripe in the Pacific slopes from the south of Mexico to the north of Costa Rica. Nicaragua still preserves some of the original distribution of this biome, but this is highly fragmented. In our project we tried to sample as many localities as possible along the Pacific side of Nicaragua where this biome was still present, even if with different degrees of preservation. In each locality we sampled both plants and leaf beetles. |
